When our computer had crashed, we checked that Lightroom was not working and asking me to in the serial number for my program (I purchased it prior to the monthly subscription set up) and then it says “cannot access it” Lightroom Catalog called “Lightroom Catalog” because there is an application that is already open.” we are given the option to “choose an alternative catalog”, “continue” or “quit”. There’s no other catalog available, we just have one that I’ve created. We press ‘continue’ and nothing goes away. The message window will flash and we are watching an error screen which provides me with the same options to “choose another catalog”, “continue” or “quit.”
Why did we access the Lightroom program on our computer? How to fix this error ?
It is important to note that we had three options.
- Choose another catalog, simply invokes a directory which shows what we had known about that particular catalog.
- Naturally, exit the window.
- We also shot to the top of the task manager to verify that no other programs/applications were running,
We did not know why this message was received that from another application had the Lightroom Catalog open.
By taking out from the folder “.lock” which has the identical catalog’s name, “error” we could access Lightroom.
2nd Method to access lightroom catalog on your computer:
Start of Lightroom by pressing the command button. Select from the menu to start a brand new catalog
If you’re able to create a catalog from scratch, then navigate to the File menu > Import from another catalog and then choose the catalog you want to import information from.
You can also search for a backup from a recent catalog and check if you’re in a position to open it.
3rd Method to access Lightroom:

There isn’t any other software running. The issue persists, even with the computer security software that is not installed. There isn’t a catalog that’s ‘different ‘. We attempted to “open an entirely new catalog,” but all attempts to transfer the files to a different catalog would fail. We can uninstall and reinstall the program, but we will lose the records of the changes we made in the library.
